The Life Course Centre’s Internal Grants program is designed to support strategic initiatives to enhance the Centre’s profile and impact. Opportunities include:

Staff Exchange, Travel, and Training Scheme

The Capacity Building Portfolio supports the Centre Staff Exchange Scheme and is designed to build and strengthen research capability and exchange among Life Course Centre Research Fellows. Research Fellows and Associate Investigators employed at node Universities can apply for up to $2,000 for domestic activities and $6,000 for international travel. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until otherwise notified. All awarded funds must be spent by 31st December. Find out more here

Student Travel and Training Award

The Capacity Building Portfolio supports the Centre Student Travel and Training Award is an opportunity for Life Course Centre Higher Degree Research (HDR) students to develop new skills through training, professional development, mentoring and networking. Funding is available to promote exchange and capacity building with national and international organisations (industry, government and NGO’s) and Life Course Centre university partners. Confirmed Life Course Centre HDR students can apply for up to $4,000 for domestic activities and $6,000 for international travel. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until otherwise notified. All awarded funds must be spent by 31st December. Find out more here

HDR Bridging scholarship

The Life Course Centre HDR Bridging scholarship is a post-graduate writing up award to support eligible Life Course Centre higher degree by research (HDR) candidates during the preparation of journal articles or books based on the graduate research thesis submitted for examination. The awards are supported by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, as part of the Capacity Building Portfolio, chaired by Dr Cain Polidano. HDR transition grants

The Life Course Centre HDR transition grant is an opportunity for students to gain research experience and skills outside of their thesis topic. It offers short-term research assistant positions to current students on existing Life Course Centre research projects, with a priority given to HDR students in the final year of their degree and to projects that will facilitate students to extend their existing skill sets.   4. Stefanie Plage & Janeen Baxter: Between home, school and clinic: How families of school-aged children with cancer negotiate uncertainty in everyday life

Conference Session Grants

The Life Course Centre Research Linkages Portfolio supports researchers to develop and deliver Life Course Centre sessions at major national and international multi-disciplinary conferences. Funding is available to encourage collaboration. Find out more here

Incoming Visitors Program

The Life Course Centre offers funding to support visits by scholars and international research higher degree (RHD) students that contribute to the Centre’s research linkages mission. Find out more here

Centre Director’s Strategic Funding

The Centre Director’s Strategic Funding of up to $5,000 is designed to allow for agile responses to new opportunities. This can include seed funding for projects, but is not limited to project funding. Please contact lcc@uq.edu.au for more information.
