The Life Course Centre’s Internal Grants program is designed to support strategic initiatives to enhance the Centre’s profile and impact. Opportunities include:
Research Infrastructure Portfolio Funding
The Research Infrastructure Portfolio is intended to develop new and leverage existing research infrastructure to support Life Course Centre research that aims to improve the lifetime wellbeing of Australians enduring or at risk of disadvantage. The Data Linkage Project Grants offer up to $30,000 to support a research project that demonstrates innovative use of new or existing quantitative data sets to address questions relating to deep and persistent disadvantage. Research Fellows (paid or significant in-kind) are eligible to apply. This funding scheme is open now and applications can be submitted at any time up to 31 October 2019 or until the funds are expended. Projects must be able to be completed by 31 December 2020. Social Interventions Project Grants
The Social Interventions Project Grants aim to identify and implement viable prospects for Life Course Centre-designed social interventions that can make a difference to the extent of deep and persistent disadvantage in Australia. This scheme has up to $150,000 in total to disburse in 2019. This grant is open to all Life Course Centre researchers at the four collaborating universities (including paid and in-kind researchers). This grant is open from 8 April 2019 with applications due by 17 May 2019. Find more information regarding the application process and requirements here.
Flagship Research Project Grants
The Flagship Research Project Grants support the development of projects with the potential for high impact in knowledge transfer and research translation. This can include publications in breakthrough journals, innovative ways to promote findings to target audiences, or preparation of major reports and submissions. The grant has up to $320,000 to disburse in Round One, and up to $150,000 to disburse in Round Two. This grant is open to all Life Course Centre researchers at the four collaborating universities (including paid and in-kind researchers). Staff Exchange Scheme
The Capacity Building Portfolio supports the Centre Staff Exchange Scheme and is designed to build and strengthen research capability and exchange among Life Course Centre Research Fellows. Research Fellows can apply for up to $2,000 for domestic activities and $6,000 for international travel in rounds that take place three times a year. Round closing dates for 2019 are: 14th April, 14th July, 17th November. Awards will be announced within three weeks of close. Find out more here
Student Travel Award
The Capacity Building Portfolio supports the Centre Student Travel Award is an opportunity for Life Course Centre Higher Degree Research (HDR) students to develop new skills through training, professional development, mentoring and networking. Funding is available to promote exchange and capacity building with national and international organisations (industry, government and NGO’s) and Life Course Centre university partners. Confirmed Life Course Centre HDR students can apply for up to $4,000 for domestic activities and $6,000 for international travel in rounds that take place three times a year. Find out more here
2019 Conference Session Grants
The Life Course Centre Research Linkages Portfolio supports researchers to develop and deliver Life Course Centre sessions at major national and international multi-disciplinary conferences. Funding is available to encourage collaboration. Find out more here
Incoming Visitors Program
The Life Course Centre offers funding to support visits by scholars and international research higher degree (RHD) students that contribute to the Centre’s research linkages mission. Find out more here
Centre Director’s Strategic Funding
