Examining the Academic Outcomes of Children of Same-Sex Couples
Life Course Centre Research Fellow Dr Jan Kabátek from the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research recently visited the Centre in Brisbane to discuss a new cross-nodal study on the academic outcomes of children raised in same-sex couples.
Dr Kabátek is undertaking the research in conjunction with Dr Francisco Perales, a Life Course Centre Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research at The University of Queensland. Some preliminary findings from the new study were presented at a Life Course Centre seminar at the Institute for Social Science Research attended by researchers and students. The research, which compares the academic outcomes of children in same-sex parented and different-sex parented families, aims to bring new evidence to a timely and important debate.
