The School of Economics will host the 21st Labour Econometrics Workshop (LEW 2018) at the University of Sydney on 17-18 August 2018. This year’s keynote speakers will be A/Professor Jessica Pan (NUS) and Professor Colin A. Cameron (UC-Davis).

The LEW is an annual meeting hosted by a different university in Australasia each year. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for researchers in applied micro-econometrics to share and discuss their latest research, and receive constructive feedback. A blend of papers by established researchers and junior scholars is usually selected. There is no registration fee for the workshop.

Jessica Pan is an Associate Professor of Economics at the National University of Singapore. Jessica’s research focuses on applied topics in labour economics and the economics of education. Her current projects examine gender differences in labour market and educational outcomes; international migration and the labour market effects on source and host countries; and topics in labour economics such as discrimination, marriage markets, and the returns to education. Her work has been published in several leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Labor Economics, and the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics. She was born in Singapore and received a Bachelor’s in economics from the University of Chicago, followed by an MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

Colin Cameron is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of California–Davis, and a visiting Professor at University of Sydney. His main research is in microeconometrics for cross-section data and has appeared in many of the leading all-round economics journals and econometrics field journals including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and Journal of Applied Econometrics. Colin Cameron is also the coauthor with Pravin Trivedi of three leading books in microeconometrics: Regression Analysis of Count Data; Microeconometrics: Methods and Applications, and Microeconometrics using Stata. Colin was born in Australian and was educated at the Australian National University (undergraduate) and Stanford University (graduate).
